Valente Development Corporation has proposed an exciting proposal to incorporate a new Town Hall into the redevelopment of the former General Amherst High School site. This plan also envisions reimagining Bill Wigle Park into a civic esplanade, creating a lively public space to serve the community and house a civic theatre for various programming events.

At the Regular Council Meeting on September 23, 2024, representatives from Valente presented their vision, which thoughtfully preserves the site's heritage while aligning with modern building standards. Council approved the proposal in principle and is seeking input from the public on the concept of the potential integration of a new town hall into Valente Development before deciding whether to enter into negotiations.

Thank you to those who provided feedback regarding this project. At the regular council meeting on October 27, 2025, Council agreed not to pursue this opportunity.
