Howard Industrial Park District
The Howard Industrial Park District is a large area of land located along the east side of Howard Avenue and south of County Road 8 (approximately 330 hectares in total). It is currently designated Industrial in the Town's approved Official Plan. However, much of this land remains undeveloped, except for several areas used for space-intensive industrial and commercial land use.
The Town has detailed the guidelines for this area to ensure Amherstburg is prepared for future investment. Working with key stakeholders to coordinate a Secondary Plan for the Howard Industrial Park District will help all parties forecast short- and long-term infrastructure needs.
After public consultation, a report has been created for Council's review and approval. CLICK HERE to view the Council Report for the November 27, 2023, Council Meeting regarding this project.
In early 2025, the Town successfully received the Trade-Impacted Communities Program grant and was awarded $838,000. To view the press release.
With these awarded funds, the Town has hired Deloitte to oversee Phase 1 of the project, which will set out a thoughtful, forward-looking approach to employment land planning that considers both demand and supply. This team will use market intelligence and supply chain analysis to identify the sectors most likely to invest in Amherstburg and site readiness, along with an implementation plan focused on getting the Howard Industrial Park ready for investment.
